Our group of jet setters were absolute joys to travel with! And miraculously, those smiles never faded throughout Day #1!
After a long flight, we arrived in Paris to see this lovely and welcoming sign:
Paris, nous t’aimons aussi! And we’ve only just arrived!
Our first day in France was a FULL one! Despite their travel induced fatigue, the group embraced each new experience with enthusiastic smiles and friendly "Bonjours," and familiarized themselves with both the campus of the Lycée Privé St-Vincent and the town of Senlis.
First, the nerve-wracking part…meeting their host families, brothers and sisters. There was much enthusiasm as correspondents met in the Arrivals Hall of the Charles de Gaulle airport, and hurried off to meet back on campus, where a delicious breakfast awaited (in a dining room with a little bit of character...).
It was a whirlwind
after that: attending courses with their French correspondents, lunch on
campus/in town, a French lesson given by Monsieur Gravé, and a tour of downtown
Senlis, which included the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis (constructed in the
12th century), underground quarries, and of course, all of the essentials: la pâtisserie, la boulangerie et les boutiques! The students seemed to love the history and charm of Senlis, and of course, the roses that seemingly grow on every building!
We’ll end with a view
of the strikingly beautiful campus. If you look to the right of the photo, you’ll
see the American flag flying alongside the European Union flag and the French
flag, to signal our arrival and symbolize the bond our schools have formed—a special sight indeed!
